Give Your Tub a Second Life
Do you think your tub is beyond help? It may not be. The professionals at Tub Tile & Tops have refinished tubs in the following conditions:
- Damaged, chipped or cracked
- Worn out
- Difficult to clean
- Very old and in need a new color
The repair and refinishing process for tubs is possible on several types of surfaces, including porcelain, cast iron, steel, cultured marble, fiberglass, and tile. That means we can refinish all styles of tubs, from antiques and Jacuzzis to shower-and-bathtub units. We even use eco-friendly products during the reglazing process that are easy on the environment. The resulting bathtub will be beautiful, and you’ll be amazed at just how affordable the process is.
Should I Refinish or Replace My Tub?
Choosing tub refinishing over replacement makes sense for many reasons. Consider the following:
- Tub replacement is a much more complex process than tub refinishing. When a tub is removed from a bathroom, the wall, surrounding tile, and flooring are often damaged and need to be repaired or replaced. The new tub may require a reconfiguring of the plumbing for correct installation. It’s a messy and expensive process. Start to finish, this can take days and often weeks, depending on the contractor and complexity.
- Conversely, bathtub refinishing is quick and simple. There is no mess, no bothersome noise, and the tub will be ready to use just four hours after the refinishing process is complete.
- Costs for refinishing are 75 to 85 percent less than replacement – significant savings that everyone can appreciate!
Add an Optional Slip Resistant Surface (SRS)
We give customers the option to add a slip resistant surface (SRS) to the floor of every tub or shower we refinish. Adding this cost-effective surface improves the safety of your tub.
The slip resistant surface (SRS) is a permanent, textured substance that’s applied to the entire length of the floor, from the drain to the back of the tub. This sealed, sanitary, and textured surface is nearly invisible to the eye and allows for better traction and safety. It’s also easy to clean, unlike some imprinted non-slip surfaces.
The slip resistant surface (SRS) can help prolong the life of your newly resurfaced tub. Since it is permanent, it does not need to be removed while cleaning. Using non-slip stickers or a suction cup bathmat can severely damage your tub, causing the new surface to deteriorate quicker, leaving discolored areas, or even removing the new surface. If you are worried about slippery surfaces, it is best to add an SRS installation to your order to help prevent the voiding of your warranty by using bathmats or stickers.
We encourage anyone with children, elderly adults, or those with disabilities in their households to have the slip resistant surface installed. It is also HIGHLY recommended that all commercial and rental properties have the surface installed to prevent damage from neglectful tenants, safety hazards, and the voiding of your warranty from the use of bathmats and stickers.
Normally the slip resistant surface (SRS) costs $150 to install. However, it is priced at only $50 if you decide to have the SRS installed at the time of your tub reglazing process.
While we can install the slip resistant surface on some surfaces after the tub refinishing process, it is recommended that it be installed during the initial process, so as to create a nice, clean seal. It is EXTREMELY important that you speak with the technician before the resurfacing process has begun to tell them you want the SRS to be applied.
