Are you worried about maintaining your newly refinished bathtub? After all, the whole point of refinishing instead of replacing is to get a great new look without breaking the bank, so our team at Tub Tile & Tops knows you want long-lasting results. If you pay proper attention to your newly refinished fixtures, they should last 10 to 15 years! That’s why we’ve put together a quick maintenance guide so you can get your money’s worth.
Daily CareCaring for your fixtures doesn’t have to be time-consuming; you can easily add these tips into your daily routine to protect your investment. First, simply turning on your bathroom exhaust fan while showering or bathing can help reduce the chances of mold forming along the new caulk lines of your bathtub or shower. Also, after each use, rinse your tub or shower with an extendable shower head. Soap scum can actually eat away at the surface over time, so don’t forget to spray under soap dishes and shampoo bottles to make sure your tub stays sparkling clean.
Weekly CareDuring your weekly cleaning, make sure you’re paying attention to what you use to clean your refinished bathtub. Use only non-abrasive cleaner and non-abrasive scrubbing pads to clean your new surface. Stay away from powders or soft-scrub gels, as they can deteriorate the surface (e.g., Comet, Ajax, Soft-Scrub, Brillo Pads, and steel wool should be avoided). We also do not recommend using bleach or products that contain bleach. The best choices are liquid cleaners and soft cloths or sponges.
Finally, in addition to your cleaning routine, we recommend that you pay special attention to the water in your bathroom. Watch for any leaking or dripping, and address any issues quickly. Drips can have a negative effect on any surface over time. Also, if the water in your area has a high iron count, you’ll need to treat it with the proper conditioning services to avoid rust stains.
